Healthy Waffle

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil or unsalted butter

  • Optional: vanilla extract, cinnamon, or other flavorings

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. In another bowl, whisk together the honey/maple syrup, milk, egg, and melted coconut oil/butter.

  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Let the batter sit for 5-10 minutes to thicken slightly.

  4. Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.

  5. Pour the batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook according to the waffle iron instructions, usually about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. Serve warm with fresh fruit, yogurt, or a drizzle of honey/maple syrup.
